| 07-09-10 Tonight Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Bracknell Town for a 1st round tie of the A & M Print & Copy Hellenic League Floodlit Cup tie, k.o. 7-45pm. Kidlington are on a fine run at the moment and sit only one point behind current league leaders Ascot with a game in hand. They brushed aside Malmesbury Vic's last Saturday 5 - 1 in the FA Vase and are looking to take this form into tonight's match with Bracknell. In the match on Saturday Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary Introduced a new signing, Tom Woodbridge who was with Hayes and Yeading last season. Woodbridge is a forward or wide player and after moving to the area was quickly signed up by the Yarnton Road outfit. Woodbridge came on as a 2nd half substitute against the Vic's, gave a good account of himself and scored a goal. After watching this Geary said "Tom looks another very good acquisition for the club and I am very pleased to have him here" Kidlington won the Floodlit Trophy a couple of season's back and will be certainly anxious to come away from Larges Lane with another victory after having put in another good performance. Geary said about tonight's match "things are going well for us and we seem to playing with confidence, I personally don't know much about Bracknell, but they will come into this one after a resounding 3 - 0 win over Wooton Bassett last Saturday. I am sure that they will also want to also progress in this competition, so it should be a good match. Kidlington will be without Jordan Parker and Brad Chalmers, however Danny Leggett and Jack Johnson will come back into the squad. On the injury front, both Lance Williams (hamstring) and Luke Holden (ankle & groin) are on the mend and will hopfully be available again in 2 or 3 weeks time. In the mean time some good news is that Mark Baker made a scoring return in the Vase match with Malmesbury on Saturday, after an injury which had kept him out of action for a month. Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Tom Woodridge & Jack Johnson. Then On Bank Holiday Monday we will be at home again, this time against Oxford City Nomads, again k.o. is 3:00pm. Kidlington have now taken 7 points from a possible 12 at the start of this campaign and this could have been so much better, but for an uncharacteristically poor performance against Shrivenham last Saturday which saw them go down 2 - 1. However this defeat was swept away and forgotten after a brilliant mid-week victory over Reading Town. Kidlington were on fire at Scours Lane and deservedly took all 3 points from the match with previously unbeaten Reading where we ran out 4 - 2 winners. On the score sheet for us was Danny Mason, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Flanagan & Brad Chalmers, and the goals were all headers. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary had told his troops to get behind their opponents and get balls into the box. They obviously listened as they did this and it paid dividends as these headed goals testify. On the night Geary gave a full debut to central defender Christian Perkins, and he had an outstanding evening. Some good news for Kidlington is that Mark Baker has started light training again this week, but Lance Williams is still out with a nasty hamstring injury. Williams is due to have a scan on his leg, Kidlington should then be able to assess the full extent of the damage when this has been done. Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Brad Chalmers, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Jordan Parker, Jack Quainton, Andy Styles, Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill & Sam Fincher.
